The Romans (Al-Room)

60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq) before The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

۞ Alif-Lam-Mim. 1 The Romans have been defeated. 2 In a near land, and they, after being vanquished, shall overcome, 3 All matters of the past and future are in the hands of God. The believers will enjoy the help of God on that Day. 4 in the victory of Allah. Allah gives victory to whosoever He will, and He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 5 It is a promise of Allah. Allah faileth not His promise, but most of mankind know not. 6 People simply know the outward aspect of the worldly life but are utterly heedless of the Hereafter. 7 What, have they not considered within themselves? God created not the heavens and the earth, and what between them is, save with the truth and a stated term; yet most men disbelieve in the encounter with their Lord. 8 Have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? They were greater than them in power, and they plowed the earth and built it up more than they have built it up, and their messengers came to them with clear evidences. And Allah would not ever have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves. 9 Then the end of those who committed evil was evil, for they belied the signs of Allah and they were wont to mock at them. 10
