Nay, by the Moon 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 A warning to mortals, 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 Of evil-doers: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They said, "We never used to offer the prayer." 43 we fed not the needy, 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 until death approached us". 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Indeed, each one of them desires to be given unrolled scrolls. 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
