Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I do call to witness the Resurrection Day; 1 and by the self accusing soul (that you will certainly be resurrected). 2 Do men think that We shall never be able to assemble their bones? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 Yet man is sceptical of what is right before him. 5 He asks: "When will be this Day of Resurrection?" 6 At length, when the sight is dazed, 7 And the moon becomes dark, 8 and the sun and the moon are joined together, 9 upon that day man shall say, 'Whither to flee?' 10 No! There is no refuge. 11 To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 nay, man shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 even though he might make up excuses. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 We Ourself shall see to its collection and recital. 17 Wherefore when We recite it, follow thou the reciting thereof. 18 then it will be for Us to explain it. 19 No! But you love the immediate 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 On that Day there shall be radiant faces, 22 and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. 23 And (other) faces on that day shall be gloomy, 24 certain of facing a great calamity. 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 and leg is intertwined with leg, 29 On that Day you will be driven to your Lord. 30
