The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
