The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
