1/4 Hizb 17
< random >
The chiefs of the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "This is indeed a well-versed sorcerer; 109 "He wishes to drive you away from the land. So what do you advise?" 110 They said, 'Put him and his brother off a while, and send among the cities musterers, 111 That they may bring to you every enchanter possessed of knowledge. 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh and said: 'Shall we have a reward if we win?' 113 He said, “Yes, and you will then become close to me.” 114 Then they said: 'O Moses, will you [first] throw your rod, or shall we throw?' 115 He [Musa (Moses)] said: "Throw you (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them, and they displayed a great magic. 116 We put it into Moses's mind by inspiration: "Throw (now) thy rod": and behold! it swallows up straight away all the falsehoods which they fake! 117 ۞ Thus the truth prevailed and what they had produced came to nothing: 118 Pharaoh and his men were defeated and put to shame, 119 And the wizards fell down prostrate, 120 Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the Worlds,- 121 "The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Firon said: Do you believe in Him before I have given you permission? Surely this is a plot which you have secretly devised in this city, that you may turn out of it its people, but you shall know: 123 I shall cut off your hands and feet on the opposite sides, and then crucify you all.' 124 They said, “We shall return to our Lord.” 125 You would take revenge on us only because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Lord, pour patience upon us and let us die as submitters (Muslims)' 126
