Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By those [winds] scattering [dust] dispersing 1 then the bearers of weight (the clouds), 2 And the ships that glide with ease. 3 then by the distributors (angels), ordered; 4 Verily, that which you are promised is true indeed, 5 And verily, the Recompense is sure to happen. 6 I swear by the heaven full of ways. 7 Most surely you are at variance with each other in what you say, 8 He is turned away from it who would be turned away. 9 They but destroy themselves, they who are given to guessing at what they cannot ascertain 10 Those who have forgotten in a state of intoxication. 11 They ask: "When is the Day of Judgement?" -- 12 The day they will be burnt in the Fire, 13 'Taste your trial. This is what you have sought to hasten' 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 Taking what their Lord gives them; surely they were before that, the doers of good. 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 And in their wealth and possessions (was remembered) the right of the (needy,) him who asked, and him who (for some reason) was prevented (from asking). 19 And in the earth are portents for those whose faith is sure. 20 And (also) in yourselves. Can ye then not see? 21 And in the heaven is your sustenance and what you are threatened with. 22 Then, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is the truth (i.e. what has been promised to you), just as it is the truth that you can speak. 23
