Seest thou one who turns back, 33 who gave a little, and then stopped? 34 Or, does he possess knowledge of the Unseen, and can therefore see? 35 Or, has he not been told of that which is in the Scrolls of Moses 36 and of Abraham, who to his trust was true: 37 that no bearer of burdens shall be made to bear another's burden; 38 and that man shall have nothing but what he has striven for, 39 And that his effort will be seen. 40 and that he shall then be fully recompensed, 41 and that the final return is to your Lord, 42 That it is He Who granteth Laughter and Tears; 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 And that He createth the two spouses, the male and the female, 45 From a drop (of seed) when it is poured forth; 46 That the second creation is incumbent on Him; 47 It is He who grants people temporary and durable wealth. 48 It is He who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 and that He destroyed Ad, the ancient, 50 and Thamud tribes, 51 and before them the nation of Noah, they exceeded in evil and were insolent. 52 And He brought perdition upon the subverted cities 53 And covered them by that which He covered. 54 About which, then, of thy Sustainer's powers canst thou [still] remain in doubt? 55 He (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) is a Herald of Warning, like the former Heralds of Warning. 56 The Day of Resurrection draws near, 57 and none but Allah can avert it. 58 Marvel ye then at this statement, 59 And will ye laugh and not weep,- 60 And ye are behaving proudly. 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
