The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
