Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ SAY: "It has been revealed to me that some of the unseen beings gave ear [to this divine writ,] and thereupon said [unto their fellow-beings]: "'Verily, we have heard a wondrous discourse, 1 'It guides to the Right Path, and we have believed therein, and we shall never join (in worship) anything with our Lord (Allah). 2 And [it teaches] that exalted is the nobleness of our Lord; He has not taken a wife or a son 3 The dimwit one (the devil) among us has been telling confused lies about God. 4 We had supposed that men and jinn would never utter a lie against God. 5 Some men used to seek refuge with the jinn in the past, but that only increased their insolence. 6 They thought, as you did, that God would never raise up anyone from the dead. 7 'And we have sought to reach the heaven; but found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires. 8 'And verily, we used to sit there in stations, to (steal) a hearing, but any who listens now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush. 9 And so we know not whether evil is intended for those in the earth, or whether their Lord intends for them rectitude. 10 And among us there are righteous folk and among us there are far from that. We are sects having different rules. 11 and that “we thought that we will neither be able to frustrate Allah on earth, nor frustrate Him by flight”; 12 and that “when we heard the teaching of the Right Way we came to believe in it; he who believes in His Lord shall have no fear of suffering loss or being subjected to any injustice”; 13 "'Yet [it is true] that among us are such as have surrendered themselves to God - just as there are among us such as have abandoned themselves to wrongdoing. Now as for those who surrender themselves to Him - it is they that have attained to consciousness of what is right; 14 but as for those who have deviated, they have become firewood for Gehenna!"' 15 If they had followed the right path, We would have provided them with abundant rain -- 16 "That We might try them by that (means). But if any turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to undergo a severe Penalty. 17 All places of worship are for God; so do not invoke any one with God. 18 "Yet when the Devotee of Allah stands forth to invoke Him, they just make round him a dense crowd." 19
