The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And your garments do purify, 4 Pollution shun! 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 and who still desires more. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then looked he, 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 and says, "All this is mere spellbinding eloquence handed down [from olden times]! 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
