He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 exalted and purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble and righteous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
