Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
