The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 by the night when it approaches 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
