The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? 1 Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. 2 Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms 5 A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. 6 They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; 7 And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,- 8 'We feed you only for the Face of God; we desire no recompense from you, no thankfulness; 9 for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. 10 Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; 11 And their recompense shall be Paradise, and silken garments, because they were patient. 12 Reclining in it, upon thrones; they will not see the hot sunshine in it, nor the bitter cold. 13 The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. 14 And brought round amongst them will be vessels of silver and also goblets of glass. 15 goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. 16 They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water 17 from a spring named salsabil. 18 ۞ There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls. 19 And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. 20 On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. 21 This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. 22
