The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ ALIF LAM RA. These are the verses of the Book and the perspicuous oration. 1 Perhaps (often) will those who disbelieve wish that they were Muslims [those who have submitted themselves to Allah's Will in Islam Islamic Monotheism, this will be on the Day of Resurrection when they will see the disbelievers going to Hell and the Muslims going to Paradise]. 2 Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know. 3 Whenever We destroyed a town, a definite term had previously been decreed for it. 4 No nation can outstrip its term nor can they lag behind. 5 They say: 'Thou, upon whom the Remembrance is sent down, thou art assuredly possessed! 6 Why bringest thou not angels unto us, if thou art of the truthful? 7 We do not send down the angels (in frivolity); and when We do send them down, We do so with Truth; then people are granted no respite. 8 We Ourselves have revealed the Quran and We are its Protectors. 9 (O Muhammad), certainly We did send Messengers before you among the nations which have gone by. 10 But never came a messenger to them but they mocked him. 11 Thus do We insert denial into the hearts of the criminals. 12 They do not believe in him, and the tradition of earlier nations has passed. 13 And even if We open to them a gateway of heaven, so that they ascend into it all the while, 14 still they would say: 'Our eyes were dazzled; truly, we must have been a bewitched people' 15
