And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 "Or do they benefit you or harm you?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 "And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink." 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 "And forgive my paternal uncle - he is indeed astray." 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those whom you used to worship?" 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 "When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation." 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 "So now we do not have any intercessors." 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
