So exhort (them, O Prophet), for by your Lord's Grace, you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 Or do they say: 'He is a poet, we are waiting for some misfortune to befall him' 30 Say thou: "Await ye!- I too will wait along with you!" 31 Enjoin them their understandings to this? or are they a people conumacious? 32 Or do they say, "He has invented it himself"? Indeed, they are not willing to believe. 33 Then let them bring an announcement like it if they are truthful. 34 Or were they created without there being anything, or are they the creators? 35 Or, did they create the heavens and the earth? No, their belief is not certain! 36 Or are the Treasures of thy Lord with them, or are they the managers (of affairs)? 37 Or have they a stairway (to heaven), by means of which they listen (to the talks of the angels)? Then let their listener produce some manifest proof. 38 Or has He (Allah) only daughters and you have sons? 39 Or, do you ask them for a wage, so that they become weighed down in debt? 40 Or that the Unseen in it their hands, and they write it down? 41 Seek they to lay a plot? Then those who disbelieve it is they who shall be plotted against. 42 Is theirs a god beside Allah? Hallowed be Allah from that which they associate! 43 AND YET, if they [who refuse to see the truth] were to see part of the sky falling down, they would [only] say: "[It is but] a mass of clouds!" 44 So leave them alone until they encounter that Day of theirs when they shall be struck down, 45 The Day when their plotting shall not avail them at all nor will they be helped (i.e. they will receive their torment in Hell). 46 And surely those who are unjust shall have a punishment besides that (in the world), but most of them do not know. 47 Await the judgement of your Lord, for you are always before Our eyes, and glorify your Lord with praises when you rise, 48 And in the night-time also hymn His praise, and at the setting of the stars. 49
