The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
