Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 and he belied the finest 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 Who denied (the truth) and turned away. 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
