The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ They ask you about the spoils of war. Say, "They belong to God and His Messenger. So fear God, and set things right among yourselves, and obey God and His Messenger, if you are true believers: 1 The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a fear in their hearts and when His Verses (this Quran) are recited unto them, they (i.e. the Verses) increase their Faith; and they put their trust in their Lord (Alone); 2 those who perform the prayer, and expend of what We have provided them, 3 Such are the true believers. Their reward from their Lord will be high ranks, forgiveness, and a generous provision. 4 The way your Lord caused you, O dear Prophet to come forth from your home with the truth; and indeed a group of Muslims were unhappy about it. 5 disputing with thee concerning the truth after it had become clear, as though they were being driven into death with their eyes wide open. 6 And recall what time Allah was promising you one of the two parties that it should be yours, and ye would fain that the one without arms was yours; whilst Allah besought to justify the truth by His words and to cut off the root of the infidels. 7 That He might justify Truth and prove Falsehood false, distasteful though it be to those in guilt. 8 When you (believers) begged for assistance from your Lord, He said, "I am helping you with a thousand angels, all in rows marching one after the other". 9 And Allah made it not but good tidings and so that your hearts would be assured thereby. And victory is not but from Allah. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise. 10
