When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt. 63 We bring you the truth, and indeed we are truthful. 64 "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered." 65 And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning. 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 [Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me. 68 and fear God, and do not degrade me.' 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so). 71 Verily, by thy life (O Prophet), in their wild intoxication, they wander in distraction, to and fro. 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 We laid it (the city) upside down and rained stones of baked clay upon them. 74 Verily therein are signs for men of sagacity. 75 for, behold, those [towns] stood by a road that still exists. 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 And indeed the Dwellers of the Woods were unjust. 78 So We took vengeance on them. Both are still there on the highway, plain for all to see. 79
