'Aad denied the messengers 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 125 "So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 127 “What! You build a structure on every height, to laugh at the passers-by?” 128 Erect palaces (thinking) that you will live for ever, 129 And whenever you apply force become tyrannical. 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 succoured you with flocks and sons, 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 indeed, I fear for you the torment of an awful day." 135 [But] they answered. "It is all one to us whether thou preachest [something new] or art not of those who [like to] preach. 136 This is just a habit of antiquated people. 137 And we are not going to be tormented. 138 So they belied him, and We destroyed them. Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
