Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 And gives a little and (then) withholds. 34 Or, does he possess knowledge of the Unseen, and can therefore see? 35 Or, has he not been told of that which is in the Scrolls of Moses 36 And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] - 37 Certainly no one will bear the responsibility of the sins of another, 38 and that man shall have only that for which he strives; 39 and that (the result of) his striving shall soon be seen, 40 And afterward he will be repaid for it with fullest payment; 41 and that the final end is with your Lord, 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 and that it is He who causes to die, and causes to live 44 And that He creates the two mates - the male and female - 45 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted 46 And that He hath ordained the second bringing forth; 47 And that He it is Who enriches and gives to hold; 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius; 49 And that it is He Who earlier destroyed the tribe of Aad? 50 And the Thamud nor gave them a lease of perpetual life. 51 and that He it is Who destroyed the people of Noah before for they were much given to iniquity and transgression. 52 and the Subverted City He also overthrew, 53 so that there covered it that which covered. 54 Which then of thy Lord's benefits wilt thou doubt? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The imminent Hour has drawn near, 57 none except Allah can disclose it. 58 Does this statement seem strange to them 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 And you are lost in play! 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
