The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 The rebels' abode, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
