The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 and gently take it away; 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 That “Go to Firaun – he has rebelled.” 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
