He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 you attended to him, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and fearfully, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted and holy, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and purified. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We send down abundant water, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 olives, dates, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
