The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
