Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 raised couches, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 cushions ranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
