Remember when you set forth in the morning from your house assigning the faithful positions for the battle, God heard everything and knew all. 121 When two parties from among you had determined that they should show cowardice, and Allah was the guardian of them both, and in Allah should the believers trust. 122 God gave you victory in the battle of Badr where your forces were much weaker than those of the enemy. Have fear of God so that you may give Him thanks. 123 [And remember] when thou didst say unto the believers: "Is it not enough for you [to know] that your Sustainer will aid you with three thousand angels sent down [from on high]? 124 Nay, but if ye persevere, and keep from evil, and (the enemy) attack you suddenly, your Lord will help you with five thousand angels sweeping on. 125 Allah has reminded you of this only as a glad tiding to you and so as to let your hearts be at rest. Help can only come from Allah, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. 126 That He might cut off a fringe of the Unbelievers or expose them to infamy, and they should then be turned back, frustrated of their purpose. 127 You have no concern in the affair whether He turns to them (mercifully) or chastises them, for surely they are unjust. 128 To Allah belongeth all that is in the heavens and on earth. He forgiveth whom He pleaseth and punisheth whom He pleaseth; but Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 129
