The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
