۞ (It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship. 22 "Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 But they, that Day, are in surrender. 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come unto us Imposing. 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 We had no power over you. You were a rebellious people, 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray." 32 On that Day, they will all share the chastisement. 33 Even so We do with the sinners; 34 Whenever it was said to them: “There is no true deity apart from Allah,” they waxed proud 35 and said: “Shall we forsake our deities for the sake of a distracted poet?” 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 But it will be no more than the retribution of (the Evil) that ye have wrought;- 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 In Gardens of Felicity, 43 upon couches, set face to face, 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 delicious to those who drink it 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes, 48 Like sheltered eggs in a nest. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 who would say: "Are you among the believers (of the resurrection)? 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 And but for the favour of my lord, I should have been of those brought forward. 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 It is a tree that comes forth in the root of Hell; 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 Yet they hasten to follow in their footsteps. 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
