Observedest thou him who turned away? 33 And gave a little, then stopped (giving)? 34 Does he possess the knowledge of the Unseen, and therefore he sees? 35 Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses 36 and Abraham, who paid his debt in full? 37 that no soul shall bear the burden of another; 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 That (the fruit of) his striving will soon come in sight: 40 and in the end he will be repaid for it in full; 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 and that He it is Who causes death and grants life, 44 And that He creates the two mates - the male and female - 45 from an ejaculated drop (of sperm), 46 And that He hath ordained the second bringing forth; 47 that it is He who gives wealth and possessions; 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius (the Mighty Star); 49 That it was He who destroyed the 'Ad of old, 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace of them, 51 And also the people of Nuh aforetime. Verily they were even greater wrong-doers and more contumacious. 52 And Al-Mu'tafikah He destroyed 53 So that there covered them that which did cover. 54 Which then of thy Lord's benefits wilt thou doubt? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The Day of Judgment is drawing nearer. 57 None, except Allah, can avert it. 58 At this discourse then marvel ye? 59 And keep laughing and do not weep, 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 Rather, prostrate to Allah and worship Him. ۩ 62
