The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the Great News 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 The rebels' abode, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 except boiling water and pus 25 a fitting requital, 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
