The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 and those that blow gently, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
