The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
