And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me." 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 And we have come to you with the truth, and we are most surely truthful. 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 The people of the town came along, revelling, 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 Fear God and do not shame me." 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 By your life! they were blindly wandering on in their intoxication. 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 And We turned the city upside down, and rained on them stones of hardened lava. 74 Surely in that are signs for such as mark; 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Verily, herein lies a message indeed for all who believe [in God]. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
