The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
