(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 125 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 126 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 127 You construct monuments on every hill in vain, 128 “And prefer strong palaces, that perhaps you may live for ever?” 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants. 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 and gardens, and springs: 134 'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 135 [But] they answered. "It is all one to us whether thou preachest [something new] or art not of those who [like to] preach. 136 This has been happening all along. 137 and we shall never be punished' 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 140
