And whosoever blindeth himself to the admonition of the Compassionate, We assign unto him a satan, and he becometh his companion. 36 And verily they hinder them from the way, whilst they deem that they are rightly guided. 37 To the extent that when the disbeliever will be brought to Us, he will say to his devil, “Alas – if only there was the distance* of east and west, between you and me!” – so what an evil companion** he is! (* Had I not listened to you. **They will be bound together in chains.) 38 It will profit you not this Day (O you who turn away from Allah's remembrance and His worship, etc.) as you did wrong, (and) that you will be sharers (you and your Qarin) in the punishment. 39 CANST THOU, perchance, [O Muhammad,] make the deaf hear, or show the right way to the blind or to such as are obviously lost in error? 40 And even if We take you (O Muhammad SAW) away, We shall indeed take vengeance on them. 41 Or if We shew thee that wherewith We threaten them, verily We are going to prevail over them. 42 Therefore hold fast to that which has been revealed to you; surely you are on the right path. 43 Verily it is a great source of eminence for you and your people, and soon you will be called to account concerning that. 44 And ask those of Our apostles whom We sent before you: Did We ever appoint gods to be worshipped besides the Beneficent Allah? 45
