The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virginal, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
