The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and warn! 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 And children present [with him] 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 May he be condemned! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
