Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those [winds] sent forth in gusts 1 storming tempestuously 2 by the scatterers scattering 3 And the scattering winds scattering. 4 Then I swear by the angels who bring down the revelation, 5 excusing or warning, 6 Assuredly, what ye are promised must come to pass. 7 Thus, [it will come to pass] when the stars are effaced, 8 And when the sky is split apart. 9 And when the mountains are blown away, 10 And when the messengers' time has come... 11 For what day is the time appointed? 12 To the Day of Judgement. 13 And what will make you comprehend what the day of decision is? 14 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 15 Did We not destroy the ancients? 16 Thereafter We shall cause to follow them the latter ones. 17 Thus deal We ever with the guilty. 18 On that day, woe upon those who have rejected God's revelations! 19 Did We not create you from a worthless water (semen, etc.)? 20 then placed it in a secure repository [the womb], 21 For a period (of gestation), determined (according to need)? 22 So We proportion it-- how well are We at proportioning (things). 23 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 24 Have We not made the earth to draw together to itself, 25 For the living and the dead. 26 And made therein lofty mountains, and given you to drink of sweet water? 27 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 28 (It will be said to the disbelievers): "Depart you to that which you used to deny! 29 Walk on to the covering having three branches, 30 Neither having the coolness of the shade nor availing against the flame. 31 It will throw out sparks as logs of wood 32 sparks like to golden herds. 33 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 34 On that day they will not be able to speak, 35 nor will they be allowed to proffer excuses. 36 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 37 'This is the Day of Decision; We have joined you with the ancients; 38 If you are cunning, then try your cunning against Me! 39 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 40
