He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 So you are after him! 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And he fears, 9 you ignore him. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruit and grass - 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
