The people of Lut gave the lie to the apostles. 160 Behold, their brother Lut said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 161 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 162 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 163 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 164 Why do you go for males unlike all other creatures 165 “And leave the wives your Lord has created for you? In fact you are people who exceed the limits.” 166 They said: If thou cease not, O Lot, thou wilt soon be of the outcast. 167 He said: 'Truly, I am a detester of what you do' 168 [And then he prayed:] "O my Sustainer! Save me and my household from all that they are doing!" 169 So We saved him and his whole family 170 except for an old woman who stayed behind, 171 But the rest We destroyed utterly. 172 and We sent upon them a rain, an evil rain that fell on those who had been warned. 173 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 174 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
