The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars darken, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 The rising dawn, 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
