The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 Hath made known the Qur'an. 2 He has created man: 3 [And] taught him eloquence. 4 The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). 5 And the herbs and the trees do prostrate (to Him). 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 (Transgress not in the Balance, 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 And He has set up the earth for all beings. 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 13 He created man from clay like that of earthenware. 14 And the jinns did He create from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 16 He is Lord of the two easts and Lord of the two wests. 17 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 18 He has let forth the two seas, they meet together, 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 23 And His are the lofty ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas. 24 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 25
