And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your fathers? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
