Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ha, Meem. 1 By the Clear Book 2 Surely We revealed it on a blessed night surely We are ever warning-- 3 Therein every wise affair is made distinct, 4 an order from Us. We are ever sending. 5 As mercy from your Lord. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 6 the Lord of the heavens and the earth and of all that is between them: if you would only have sure faith. 7 There is no god but He; He gives life and causes death, your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of yore. 8 yet, they toy with their doubts. 9 So watch for the day when the sky begins to emit clear smoke, 10 Which will envelop the people; this is a painful punishment. 11 Then they will say, "Lord, relieve us from this torment, for truly we are now believers in You." 12 How can a warning benefit them? The Apostle who explained all things clearly had come to them, 13 Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One (Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!" 14 Surely We will remove the punishment a little, (but) you will surely return (to evil). 15 Upon the day when We shall assault most mightily, then We shall take Our vengeance. 16 ۞ Indeed before that We subjected the Pharaonites to the same test. A noble Messenger came to them 17 saying, 'Deliver to me God's servants; I am for you a faithful Messenger, 18 and, 'Rise not up against God; behold, I come to you with a clear authority, 19 I have sought refuge with my Lord and your Lord lest you stone me [to death]. 20 “And if you do not believe in me, then have no relation with me.” 21 Moses addressed his Lord, saying, "Lord, these people are sinners". 22 'Then set thou forth with My servants in a watch of the night; surely you will be followed. 23 And leave the sea behind you as calm as ever. Surely they are an army that is doomed to be drowned.” 24 How many gardens and fountains did they leave behind, 25 And fields and stately mansions, 26 and other bounties which they enjoyed yet left behind! 27 That is what We did; and We made another nation their heirs. 28 And the heaven and earth wept not for them, nor were they reprieved. 29
