The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the star when it descends, 1 Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 This is nothing but a revelation that is conveyed to him, 4 and taught to him 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 while he was in the highest horizon; 7 Then he [Jibrael (Gabriel)] approached and came closer, 8 So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms’ length, or even less. (The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him – was with body and soul.) 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The heart did not lie [about] what it saw. 11 Will you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 And verily he saw him yet another time 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 Close to which is the Everlasting Paradise. 15 When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. 16 Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. 17 He saw some of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you then considered Al-Lat, and Al-'Uzza (two idols of the pagan Arabs). 19 And Manat, the other third (of the pagan deities)? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 That indeed is a division unfair! 22 They are naught but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has not sent for them any authority. They follow naught but conjecture and the low desires which (their) souls incline to; and certainly the guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 What! Will man get whatever he dreams of? 24 Allah's is the last and the first. 25
